Workouts and Mood Boosters

It’s Tuesday morning and everyone is still complaining about how Duke and Kentucky lost this weekend. Personally, I think it’s a great thing. It’s about time some other schools ruled the college basketball world. Or maybe I’m just bitter about ISU playing like shit in the first round…that’s probably more like it.

On Sunday, I shared a post about how exercise not only changes your body, it changes your attitude and your mood. I shared it because it’s true. My husband got some sort of upper respiratory infection and didn’t run for awhile. Sunday afternoon he finally felt well enough to run and this morning he told me how much better he felt just getting that run in. I was feeling stressed and irritable regarding our upcoming move but felt calm and collected after lifting weights for 40 minutes. In the words of the great Elle Woods, ” Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t shoot their husbands. They just don’t.” If you don’t get that reference, I’m not sure you and I will ever understand each other.

After my workout this weekend I came home and prepped Paleomg Pizza Fries and Pizza Egg Bites. Now that I am working again, I’m all about having food prepped so I don’t have to take the time to make anything. I take my lunch most days of the week instead of going out for fast food. I should do a post on quick, healthy meals. Or meals to prep and eat leftovers. I have a friend who said their husband refuses to eat leftovers. She makes a new meal every night. If my husband refused to eat leftovers, he’d have to do all the cooking. Wait..he does a lot of it anyway. Before you get all weird and judgy, let me tell you he’s home at least 2 hours before me everyday. I don’t get home until 5:30 or later and we both wake up at 4:15 so we go to bed pretty early. If he waited for me to make supper, it wouldn’t be ready until 7:00 or later.

Ok, enough about food. I’m posting my workouts for the week. I try to plan my workouts on Sunday nights, but my week rarely goes according to plan. Sometimes an event comes up or sometimes I just don’t feel like doing the workout I had planned. That’s ok! Life happens. For example: Saturday I was run down, coughing like crazy, and had a headache. I did yoga instead of hitting the gym to lift. It felt good and it was what I needed at that moment. A coworker and I have started walking 15- 20 minutes every afternoon too. The break is nice and I always feel much better and more productive after we are done. I also walk my dog for at least 20 minutes each day if it’s not raining. So if I don’t get a big workout in, I at least get up and move.

Monday: I woke up with a bad headache so I didn’t work out. I walked with my coworkers and I walked Deuce.

Tuesday: Piyo Strength and Power. This is on Beachbody on Demand.

Wednesday: RIPPED Class

Thursday: I did this yoga in the morning.

Friday: RIPPED Class

Saturday: This yoga workout from Boho Beautiful.

Sunday: Weights at the gym. See below for my workout. I did 3 sets of 10 for each round except the ab circuit- On those I did 3 sets of 15 or 16.

Round #1: Cable Rows, Hamstring Curls, and Tricep Presses
Round #2: Deadlift, Military Press, and Quad Raises
Round #3: Post delt flies, Leg Press, and Goblet Squats
Ab Circuit: Frog Crunches, Toe taps on ball, and Supermans

Old Navy is having a sale but it ends today. I ordered more workout clothes. Since I workout in public sometimes, I’m trying to look like a human. I don’t put makeup on to go workout though. I guarantee no one cares at 5:00 am.

Have a great week! I heard it finally feels like spring in the northern areas. Go outside and get some fresh air!
